New Series Announce: WARM FUSION Synthesizes Dystopian Sci-Fi Noir from Scott Hoffman & Alberto Ponticelli
LOS ANGELES, CA / NEW YORK, NY—August 27, 2024— DSTLRY, the next-generation publisher redefining creator-owned comics and collectibles, is thrilled to announce Warm Fusion, a new sci-fi horror mystery series by writer Scott Hoffman (Nostalgia, Wag, member of pop icons Scissor Sisters) and artist Alberto Ponticelli (Frankenstein: Agent of S.H.A.D.E., Orc Island). The series will debut this December, plunging readers into a nightmarish vision of New York City as biotech corporations unleash atrocities to rival the serial killers stalking the night.
Half a century into the future, New York City has been devastated by crime, ongoing storms, residual radiation from a terrorist attack, and genetic mutations spurred by the medical innovations created in response. After a series of murders rip through the city’s brothels, an escort named Vin Young, who cosplays as the Brothers Grimm’s Snow White—and is one of the generation of deformed victims—pursues the killer, or killers, reluctantly joining forces with Jarrod Hannover, the lone cop assigned to the case. The two eventually arrive at a biotech megacorp developing a cellular metal called Warm Fusion—a pioneering technology meant to replace prosthetics limbs—and soon confront the sociopathic scientist Nicholas Fleischer, his monstrous alter-ego, Mr. Barnaby, and the hideous monster that he’s been secretly developing.

Warm Fusion combines the visceral body horror of David Cronenberg with the dystopian urban sprawl of Blade Runner, offering a chilling experience for fans of sci-fi benchmarks including Videodrome, The Thing, and RoboCop.

About Scott Hoffman
Scott Hoffman (aka Babydaddy) is the co-founder of the multi-platinum selling rock/disco/glam/pop band Scissor Sisters. Alongside Jason Sellards, aka Jake Shears, Scott co-wrote and produced the music, and
from 2001-2012 the band toured worldwide, received an Ivor Novello and multiple Brit awards (among others), garnered multiple top-10 singles and sold nearly seven million albums worldwide. “I Don’t Feel Like Dancing," one of their collaborations with Elton John, went to number one in nine countries and was a top-10 hit in many others. The band’s music was used in countless films and TV shows, and they wrote and recorded original songs for projects including the closing credits for the film Party Monster and a musical sequence in Shrek: Forever After.
As a songwriter/producer, Scott has worked alongside Jason with artists such as Bryan Ferry and Kylie Minogue (their collaboration “I Believe In You” was a worldwide hit, debuting at number 2 in the UK charts). Since the band’s hiatus, Scott has been working for and with other artists including Demi Lovato, Melanie Martinez, MNDR, Tinashe, Ariana Grande, additional work with Kylie Minogue, and FRENSHIP (whose “Capsize”, which he co-wrote, has earned over 600 million streams on Spotify alone). Scott debuted as a comics writer in 2023 with Nostalgia (alongside artist Danijel Žeželj) and Wag (with Juan Bobillo). Both were released by Comixology Originals.

Alberto Ponticelli is best known for his work as an interior artist on various comic book series. He has worked with DC Comics, AfterShock, TKO, Bad Idea as well as other publishers including Image Comics and Marvel. He is also an artist for various French and Italian publishers.
His latest comic books include various books in collaboration with Joshua Dysart (Unknown Soldier, nominated for an Eisner Award, as well as Goodnight Paradise and Orc Island), Frankenstein and Animal Man in collaboration with writer Jeff Lemire and Matt Kindt; Dial H For Hero written by China Mieville; and Godzilla (pencils and inks) written by John Layman.
