CHIP ZDARSKY & RACHAEL STOTT LAUNCH AN AUTOMATON AMOUR AMIDST RISING TENSIONS BETWEEN AMERICA AND CANADA IN DSTLRY’S WHITE HOUSE ROBOT ROMANCE

Two Mechanized Servants Defy Their Programming as the Nations Drift Toward All-Out Conflict

LOS ANGELES, CA / NEW YORK, NY — March 13, 2025 — DSTLRY, the next-generation publisher redefining creator-owned comic books and collectibles, is thrilled to announce White House Robot Romance from Eisner-winning writer Chip Zdarsky (TIME WAITS, Batman, Daredevil) and acclaimed artist Rachael Stott (Doctor Who, Star Trek). Colored by Tamra Bonvillain and lettered by Ariana Maher, this disarming sci-fi romance follows two kitchen-bound robots who, just as they begin to transcend their programming, become ensnared in a political crisis that threatens to drag America and Canada into war.

When Chef-9 learns that Service-1 is scheduled for immediate decommissioning, he makes an unprecedented choice: abandon his station, break protocol, and flee with Service-1 into the streets of Washington, D.C. But what starts as a desperate act of defiance quickly spirals into an international crisis. Service-1’s memory banks hold highly classified state secrets—ones that could tilt the balance of power between America and Canada. As paranoia mounts and the military mobilizes, the runaway robots find themselves hunted by government agents.

“Yes, there’s science fiction and political intrigue here, but the heart is an old-fashioned romance,” says Chip Zdarsky, co-creator and writer of the series. “Getting to write the love story between Service-1 and Chef-9 and see their love come to life thanks to Rachael and Tamra has been an absolute delight. I hope everyone falls for these two the way I have!”

“Drawing White House Robot Romance has been an incredible challenge in the best way possible,” adds Rachael Stott, co-creator and artist. “I’m channeling my love of classic sci-fi, espionage thrillers, and of course, star-crossed romance. Bringing these characters to life and making them feel human has been an exciting experience.”

“We were immediately smitten with White House Robot Romance,” explains DSTLRY Co-Founder and CCO Chip Mosher. “This is a series that speaks directly to our times: paranoia, conflict, and the search for connection in a world dominated by technology. It’s thrilling, timely, and… oddly romantic?”

Chip Zdarsky is a genius, and White House Robot Romance is further testimony to his versatility,” DSTLRY Co-Founder and CEO David Steinberger continues. “With nations on the brink of conflict, our protagonists—though mechanical—offer a deeply human story of defiance and hope.”
